Heating in Green Valley

Winter mornings are cold enough here that heat actually runs. On a one-story house, if the cabinet does not heat, there is no upstairs system to blame.

Green Valley uses heat. The line people repeat, that it “does not get that cold,” is how furnaces and the heating section of package units sit untouched until a morning in the 30s. Houses are mostly one story. If the heat fails, it fails for the whole floor. There is rarely a second system upstairs to mask it. Many residents are home in the daytime, so a cabinet that short-cycles in heat at breakfast is observed, not inferred later. ZIPs 85614 and 85622 are the ones to write down. This is the Santa Cruz Valley along I-19, not a south Tucson neighborhood.

A package unit is one box that may cool and heat. Cooling complaints for that box are Green Valley AC repair. The machine type, wherever it sits in town, is package unit AC. If the outdoor cabinet cooled in October and will not heat now, say so. The heating section, the strips, or the thermostat mode can be at fault while the compressor still ran last month. Split systems with a gas furnace in a closet also exist, especially in older sections. Heat pump versus furnace is the explainer if you are choosing, not if you are simply cold this morning. The town overview is Green Valley HVAC.

Seasonal residents arrive to a cold house and a stat still set for an empty summer. That is closer to a startup than to a dead compressor. Test heat the way the first cold night describes, on a morning that is actually cool. A dusty smell on the first cycle can be normal. A gas smell is a reason to leave and call the utility, not a reason to submit a form. Filters on package units are on the cabinet. If nobody walked past a hallway grille all year, the filter may still be the original dusty one.

Sahuarita’s heat pumps are a different town and usually a different machine: Sahuarita heating. Water heaters that greet winter visitors with a cold tank are Green Valley plumbing. TEP figures apply only on a TEP meter and only as tep.com states them on TEP rebates.

We do not service package units or furnaces. A shared request goes to an independent contractor if one accepts it. The estimate is theirs. Licenses are at roc.az.gov.

Choose No heat or Tune-up. Include the ZIP, package or split, and whether you are newly back in the house. The form does not book a repair.

Green Valley heating questions

Package heat, visitors, and ZIPs.

Does Green Valley actually use heat?

Yes. Mornings from late fall into early spring are cool enough that furnaces and heat pumps run, especially in houses that are occupied all day. It is milder than a snow climate and colder than a closed-up midtown house whose owners are at work.

Our package unit cooled fine. Why is heat a separate request?

The same cabinet often does both, and the heating side can fail while cooling still works: a heat strip, a gas section, or a thermostat mode. Say that cooling worked and heat did not. There is no second floor to carry the blame.

We just arrived for the season and the house is cold.

Say that you were away. A stat left in a setback, a package-unit filter nobody changed, and a tank that sat cold are three different notes. Water heaters are on the Green Valley plumbing page.

Will Sabino Creek service the package unit?

No. We refer. An independent contractor performs any work. We do not hold a contractor license.

One story, one cabinet

A package unit that cooled in October and will not heat in January is still one machine.
