Corona de Tucson is a census-designated place in Pima County on the Santa Rita foothills, ZIP 85641, at roughly 3,300 feet. Vail uses that same ZIP and is a different community, closer to the Rincon side and to Rancho del Lago. Sabino Creek Heating & Cooling covers residential systems in both, on separate pages, because the drive and the housing are not identical. The Vail page is Vail HVAC, and Vail cooling calls can start at Vail AC repair. Sahuarita is further south: Sahuarita.
Zip codes, housing, and utilities
Corona de Tucson is a census-designated place on the Santa Rita foothills, about 3,300 feet, using ZIP 85641. Vail uses that same ZIP and is a different community, closer to the Rincon side and to Rancho del Lago. Housing here mixes larger-lot and semi-custom plans with later production, attic ducts, and some two-story houses. It is not Sahuarita and it is not the Catalina Foothills. Electric service is split. Trico’s board map includes Corona de Tucson and Vail in District 6, and other meters here are Tucson Electric Power. Read the bill before anyone treats a TEP rebate as available. Southwest Gas is the natural-gas utility where a main was installed. Some lots are propane. Afternoons are still hot at this elevation, and attic ducts give up cooling even when the condenser is running. Winter is milder than the Catalina Foothills and colder than the airport forecast. Say Corona, not just 85641, on the form.
Foothill afternoons and attic ducts are the service note. A two-story plan with the air handler in the attic will lose cooling to duct heat even when the condenser is running. That is ducts and attic heat and sometimes an AC that can’t keep up, not a reason to jump to a larger tonnage. Sizing is its own page. A system that is simply off is AC repair.
Winter is milder than the Catalina Foothills and still cold enough at this elevation for a furnace or a heat pump to be asked to work. If you want that checked before the first cold night, use the heating tune-up. If it will not heat, use heating repair.
