Low water pressure is a sorting problem before it is a repair. Run the cold at the kitchen, then the cold at a bath, then the hot at both. If one spout is weak and the others are fine, stay at that spout. Aerators on Tucson faucets fill with sand after water-main work in the neighborhood and with white scale from hard water. You can often unscrew an aerator by hand, rinse the screen, and put it back. If the flow comes back, you do not need a house call for a “pressure problem.”
Hot weak and cold fine, at more than one faucet, moves the question toward the water heater, a failed mixing valve, or scale in a tankless unit. That is closer to no hot water and tankless than to a supply main. Hot and cold both weak everywhere is upstream of the heater: a valve that is partly closed, a pressure regulator at the house, a clogged filter on a softener, or something in the line between the meter and the first fixture. Write down whether the drop was sudden or a slow fade over months. Sudden, with a warm spot on a floor or the sound of water when every faucet is off, is a reason to read slab leak detection before anyone talks about “just low pressure.”
Hard water is the local factor people feel at showers and dishwasher inlets. Scale inside a valve is not, and forcing a cartridge you cannot get out creates a leak you did not have this morning.
Do not treat a weak house as proof the city main failed. Mains are the utility’s. If neighbors on your block have the same complaint at the same hour, that is a note worth giving the utility, not a conclusion we will print. We also will not tell you to open a meter box you are not comfortable with. The house side, from the valve you can reach to the fixtures, is what a plumbing request can cover.
