In short
Use this page to see which HomeAdvisor guide a number came from, and the day that guide was updated. Water heaters, tankless units, repairs, drains, sewers, slab leaks, burst pipes, and softeners each have a newer guide from June 2026. An older plumbing estimator from February 11, 2022 is listed only where the newer guides are silent. Nothing here is a Sabino Creek quote. Checked October 19, 2026.
The ranges, with the guide attached
| Job | HomeAdvisor national figure | Guide updated |

| Sewer line replacement | $1,388–$5,323, about $3,319. | June 19, 2026 |

Open the job page before you compare two bids. A condenser-only air-conditioner swap is not a full system, and a drain cable is not a sewer replacement. The same mistake happens in plumbing when a tank price is set next to a tankless conversion, or a detection fee is treated as the repair. Each linked page has the table that shows the split.
Hourly rates, and the older estimator
The June 17, 2026 water heater replacement guide lists plumbers at $45–$200 per hour and says labor is about half of a replacement. The plumbing cost estimator, updated February 11, 2022, lists a typical job at $175–$450, the same $45–$200 hourly band, and an average service fee around $300. That estimator is four years older than the June 2026 guides. Where they conflict — it still shows lower water-heater install bands than the June replacement guide — use the June guide. We keep the 2022 page in the sources because it is HomeAdvisor’s general plumbing index, not because it overrides a newer article.
Hourly is a poor way to budget a sewer or a slab leak. HomeAdvisor’s sewer and slab guides price those jobs by the project and by the foot, because opening a floor or a yard dominates the hours. Read those rows on their own pages.
What Tucson changes, and what it does not
We do not have a sourced Tucson multiplier for labor, so we will not invent one. The local facts we will state are the ones ContractorBear’s March 2026 article printed: water around 12–18 grains per gallon, a July–September monsoon that stresses drains and sewers, and a November–February freeze concern. Hard water is why a tank-life conversation starts earlier. It is not a line item you subtract from the HomeAdvisor table. The explanation is on hard water and softeners.
Heating and cooling prices live on a different hub, with different sources, including TEP rebates that do not belong on a plumbing invoice. That page is Tucson HVAC costs. The TEP checkbox on the form is that heating-and-cooling question. Checking it does not create a water-heater or softener rebate on this site.
How a real price happens
A written scope beats a phone range. Ask which HomeAdvisor-style job the quote actually is: repair or replacement, tank or tankless, cable or camera or liner, detect or open the slab. Ask whether a permit is included, and then confirm the contractor’s license yourself. Sabino Creek refers the request. The person who bills you is the contractor you hire. Lookup steps: check an Arizona contractor license.
