November through March is when Tucson houses fill up. Family flies in, a casita that was shut all summer gets slept in, and the air conditioner or the heat pump that coasted along for two people is asked to cover six. Showers stack up. The oven runs. Bedroom doors that usually stay open are shut for naps. The thermostat was not lying in July. The house is not the same house this week. Calling that a dead compressor, before anyone looks at the filter, sends the wrong request.
Start with the filter. A summer of dust plus a week of extra laundry and doors opening to the yard will finish a filter that was marginal in September. Then walk the doors. A closed bedroom with a supply vent and no return path traps air. The hallway return never sees it. People close upstairs vents next, hoping to “send” air to the living room. That move is closing upstairs vents, and it fights the blower. Cooking on a mild afternoon adds real heat. Run the bath fan if the room is steamy. None of this is an engineering load calculation, and this page will not turn a headcount into tons. A system that cannot hold the setpoint on an ordinary occupied day, guests or not, is an AC that can’t keep up.
Empty-house problems are the other season. A house that sat shut, with a stat in a deep setback and traps dry in the baths, is snowbird startup. A landlord turning the same house over between tenants is rental property HVAC. Use those when the issue is vacancy. Use this page when the issue is a crowd. Hot water that fades halfway through the third shower is not an air-conditioner fault. It is water heater repair, and if the tank is actually leaking, water heater leaking.
If the outdoor unit is silent, the breaker tripped, or the air is warm at every vent even at night with the crowd asleep, you are past a guest-load story. Say that plainly. Repair context is AC repair. We still do not perform it.
Sabino Creek is a referral service. We do not size equipment from a guest list, and we do not show up because a holiday is on the calendar. An independent contractor who takes a request can look at the system. The estimate is between you and them.
Choose AC not cooling, No heat, or Water heater, matching what actually failed. Say how the house is being used this week, whether doors and vents were closed, and the ZIP. The form asks for a follow-up. It does not reserve a holiday visit.
