Heating in Vail

Southeast of Tucson, toward the Rincons. Newer two-story houses put the ducts in the attic, and heat that leaves the air handler does not always arrive upstairs.

Vail heating complaints pile up in two-story production houses along the Houghton corridor. The air handler and the ducts sit in an attic that is a hard place to move heat in the morning after it was a hard place to move cooling in June. Downstairs may feel fine. Upstairs bedrooms, doors shut, get a trickle at the register. That is not automatically a dead furnace or a dead heat pump. It is often the attic run, a filter, or supply vents someone closed to “push” air the other direction. Closing them makes static pressure worse. The explanation is closing upstairs vents.

ZIP 85641 is shared with Corona de Tucson. Corona is the Santa Rita side. Vail, including Rancho del Lago, is the Rincon side. The names are not interchangeable, which the cooling page already says on Vail AC repair. The all-season overview is Vail HVAC. Corona de Tucson is its own page. Rita Ranch, next door in the city with 85747, is Rita Ranch.

Electric service is split. Trico’s territory includes parts of Vail and Corona, and other meters are Tucson Electric Power. A TEP rebate does not apply to a Trico bill. Read the bill before anyone talks about TEP rebates. Southwest Gas is the gas utility in subdivisions that were piped. If the outdoor unit runs when you call for heat, you have a heat pump and the cold-air-for-a-minute behavior may be normal. If a gas furnace in a closet is the only heat, use furnace repair. Attic heat loss as a topic is ducts and attic heat.

Water heaters in these garages are a separate winter complaint, especially when guests arrive. That draft is Vail plumbing. Guest load on the air side is guests and the AC, which also applies to heat when the house is full.

We do not crawl attics or repair equipment. Sabino Creek refers. The contractor who accepts the job provides the estimate and the warranty. License lookup is roc.az.gov.

Choose No heat. Write 85641 only if that is the real ZIP, say Vail or Corona or Rancho del Lago, and say whether upstairs is the floor that fails. The form requests a follow-up. It does not reserve a morning slot.

Vail heating questions

85641, Corona, and the upstairs.

Is 85641 only Vail?

No. Corona de Tucson shares 85641 and sits toward the Santa Ritas. Vail and Rancho del Lago sit toward the Rincons. Rita Ranch is 85747 and is not a Vail subdivision. Name the community.

Heat works downstairs and not upstairs. Is the furnace dead?

Not if downstairs is actually warm. Attic ducts and closed bedroom doors are the first notes. A system that heats no floor at all is a different report.

Our electric bill is Trico, not TEP. Do the TEP rebates apply?

Not on a Trico account. Some Vail meters are Tucson Electric Power and some are Trico. Read the bill. We do not subtract a rebate from a price.

Who does the repair?

An independent contractor, if you want the request shared. Sabino Creek does not perform heating work.

Attic ducts are the local fact. Closing vents is not the fix.
