Monsoon lines and summer storms drop power across Tucson in patches. One block has lights, the next does not, and the air conditioner is the appliance people notice first because the house starts climbing. When the lights are back and the system is quiet, the failure is often smaller than a ruined compressor. It can also be a real failure the surge exposed. The order of checks is what keeps a reset from becoming the damage.
Wait until power stops blinking. Starting a compressor into a second outage is how capacitors and boards get blamed for a storm that was not finished. Then look at the thermostat. Outages reboot displays. A stat that returns on Cool, on a schedule from yesterday, or with a blank screen that needs its faceplate reseated, is thermostat problems. If the mode and the setpoint are right and nothing happens, look at the breaker for the air handler and the one for the condenser, if you know which they are. Reset a tripped breaker once. If it trips again, leave it off. Do not hold it in. Leave the panel closed.
Outside, the disconnect at the condenser is a small box on the wall that storms and yard work both get wrong. If the pull is hanging loose or sitting in the “out” position, that is a fact to report, not a part to improvise. Do not open the condenser’s electrical cover. If the indoor blower runs and the outdoor unit is silent, say that specifically. It is a different request from a house with no power at all, and from a system that runs and blows warm air, which is AC not cooling.
This website does not report outages to Tucson Electric Power, Trico, or anyone else. If the house is still dark, or a line is down, the utility is the call. If you smell burning at the panel after the power returns, leave the breakers alone and get an electrician through a path meant for that. Cooling that is already off and the house is heating up can use emergency AC repair as the shorter page. That is still a request for a callback. It is not an overnight dispatch line. Dust and mud on a coil after the same storm are monsoon dust, which you will not fix by resetting a breaker.
Sabino Creek does not reset equipment and does not perform repairs. A form may be shared with an independent contractor after power is stable. The price is theirs. Wider repair context is AC repair.
Choose AC not cooling. Say whether the whole house has power, what you reset once, and whether the outdoor fan tried to start. Include the ZIP. You are not filing an outage, and you are not booking a visit by hitting submit.
